Shy Dog Classes

Description

Not all dogs are born "normal"; behaviour problems are a product of both genetics and environment. Whether you have a nervous puppy, a timid adolescence or a terrified adult dog, we're here to help.

Our Shy Dog Classes are designed for dogs that are commonly seen with their tail tucked between their legs, their ears flattened back, perhaps hiding behind you, or trying desperately to get away from other dogs.

If this sounds like your dog, this class is for you. Come in once a week and let your dog socialize in a safe environment with other "flight-likely" dogs.

Dog parks are not safe environments for shy dogs as they can be easily targeted and bullied. Avoid giving your dog a negative experience; instead show him that being social can be safe.

Curriculum

  • socialization
  • proper play
  • hand targeting (touch)
  • body language
  • dealing with bullies
  • dealing with fearful behaviour
  • introduction to BAT

Requirements

  • dogs four (4) months and older
  • no bite history
  • guardians must either be current clients with Whatta Pup! or Mindful Behaviors or attend an Assessment and Trial Class prior to starting classes
  • dogs must be healthy and up to date on vaccinations
  • no excessive barking tendencies (ask us!)
  • humane tools and equipment (ask us!)
Aversive methods, shock/prong/pinch/choke collars are not permitted in our facility. We treat our dogs like family and hope that you will too.

See our schedule for upcoming classes. Classes are 45 minutes in length to keep dogs under threshold and from getting over-stimulated.

Pricing

Assessment & Trial Class $25 +HST
Single class pass $15 +HST
Every 10th class is free!! Current Whatta Pup! and Mindful Behaviors students do not pay full price for the assessment and trial class!

All students must register online and will be contacted within 48 hours with details about orientation dates, requirements, and payment options.
