Inhumane Tools & Methods

An inhumane tool is one that was designed as an aversive or to cause fear and/or pain for the dog. Whatta Pup! does not condone, promote or use inhuame tools or methods when working with dogs. This includes the following:

  • pinch / prong collar
  • choke collar
  • static / shock collar
  • correction / citronella collar
  • leash corrections
  • physical punishment
  •   ~ jabbing, hitting, smacking, poking
  • alpha-rolling / pinning
  • electric Scat Mat / fence
  • spray bottle / squirt gun
  • shaker can
  • compressed air
  • mouse traps (Snappy Trainer)
This is not a complete list, but examples of the most common aversive used in today's society. If you are unsure whether a method or tool is inhumane, please feel free to contact us. Your first question should be "would I want this done to myself or my young child?". If the answer is "no", then chances are, it's an aversive. Try to find the kinder way.
