There are so many books on the market about puppies and dogs that it can be absolutely overwhelming. Much of the information is contradictory, I find...and there are so many methods and techniques out there; where do you start? How do you choose? How do you know which one works for you?
The truth is, what works for one person, may not work for another. Some trainers say “no treats” and others use them endlessly. Which has the best results? It depends - does your dog always listen to you? If so, then I’d say you’ve done well. You have to do what works best for you, your family and your lifestyle. Dogs are adaptable creatures - they will follow you to the ends of the earth if it makes you happy and if it creates balance in their lives.
Here at Whatta Pup! we try to keep everything simple and as natural as possible. The more you focus on your dog as an animal, the more success you will have; which means that you focus on providing the basic needs, set them up for success rather than failure, and use everything you can to your (and their) advantage. Keep everything as positive as possible and your dog will make you the happiest person in the world...because then, your pup will be the happiest pup in the world!
Go ahead - dive in! We’ve written some articles here to help guide you through some of the trickier times as a pet-owner. And stay tuned - there is so much more to come!!
